WEST HAVEN, April 5, 2016 — The Bailey Middle School Drama Club is set to bring “High School Musical Jr.” to the school stage this weekend.

Around 58 student-actors and 17 crew members will perform the teen favorite, which follows the story of Troy, a star high-school athlete, and Gabriella, a bookworm, and their auditions for their school musical, as well as an aspiring diva vying to be the star of the show.

The shows are at 7 p.m. on April 8 and 9. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for kids in advance or at the door.

Caitlin Pinto, a Bailey teacher directing the play, said this year is the 10th anniversary of the original “High School Musical” Disney movie.

“I chose this show because it's really fun and provides the opportunity to include a lot of students. They've been working almost every day after school for the last two months. This year is the 10th anniversary of ‘High School Musical,’ so it was definitely appropriate to do it this spring,” Pinto added.

“High School Musical was very popular when I was younger, and I have to say, my students are loving it. The music is catchy and even though it's 10 years old, they were very familiar with some of the songs.”
