We were excited to begin the 20 Minute a Day Challenge on October 20th running through November 20th . As the students got involved, they were anxiously reading their 20 minutes a day and turning in their filled bookmarks so we could place them under their ELA teacher. As Thanksgiving arrived, we celebrated our achievements with a hat and a PJ day before we left for vacation.

The students overwhelmingly wanted to extend the 20-minute-a-day challenge break. Parents, when your child reads for just 20 minutes a day something awesome happens...they will be exposed to a world outside of their own...when you do something new for 30 days it creates a habit...(reading daily) and gives students new perspectives opening up their imaginative minds, helping them to learn to love and enjoy reading.

I hope students continue to read 20 minutes a day throughout the Holiday break and well into the new year so we can fill up the areas under each ELA teacher.
