Our 8th graders had the opportunity to hear from bestselling author Sharon Cameron, who shared the story behind her latest novel, Up from the Ashes, based on the incredible true story of Chaim and Selma Engel and their survival of the Sobibor death camp during World War II. Students also heard from their granddaughter, Tagan Engel, who helped bring their family’s story of courage, love, and resilience to life.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sharon Cameron and Tagan Engel for taking the time to visit our students and share such a meaningful and powerful story. 📚❤️
The public is invited to attend a free presentation tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Ives Main Library in New Haven. Learn more here: https://nhfpl.libcal.com/event/17376771
